This course is actually 3 courses combined (VC1, VC2, and Day Trip Leader Course) - with no previous big canoe experience needed!
For anyone who is interested in big canoes, this 5-day course will take participants through the VC Level 1 and the VC Level 2 course material to gain skills in all positions, along with this Day Trip Leader course, giving participants Day Trip Leader certification in large Voyageur canoes. The ability of these amazing craft to enhance paddling skills, leadership, group dynamics, and reconciliation will be a central themes in our 5 days together during the combined courses.
Free camping is available onsite at the quiet waterfront course location. Indoor and outdoor washrooms are available, and an indoor shower is available if the clean lake water is too fresh! Participants will be in charge of their own food and prep. A large kitchen with 2 stoves, 2 fridges, 2 freezers, and 2 microwaves is available, along with a barbeque or bring your own campstove or cook on the firepit! Enjoy your meals in the comfort of a large screened-in gazebo with 3 picnic tables for participants’ use.
