Basic Canoeing Levels 1-2, tandem
This one-day program introduces and develops a number of skills for paddling in both the bow and stern positions. Learn: launching and removing canoes at beaches and docks; entering and exiting; paddling positions; balancing and trimming; pivots and sideways displacement; paddling forward and backward in a straight line; turns, circles and landings; changing positions; retrieving a swamped canoe; canoe-over-canoe rescues; lifts and carries; equipment knowledge, selection and care; government regulations; other safety and theory topics. Participants are expected to be able to swim while using a PFD (lifejacket).
